Classic Modern Sophisticated Bedroom...
So the inspiration behind this design was this magnificent painting by European Artist Isabellemenin. Can we not agree that the colors in this painting are quite spectacular! This to me is not your “every day artwork” but truly a one of a kind masterpiece. I just love her paintings as they are so vibrant and colorful and with so much artistry. I would encourage you to look at her work and to discover how she especially characterizes her work to nature and quote “ nature is the place where I can get rid of human figures, human noise, human arrogance. Nature looks like it doesn’t give a shit about us and that is very relaxing!” I think we can all relate! When looking for artwork we do tend to look for images that are pleasing to the eye, or that perhaps transform us to another state of mind or feeling. Artwork can temporarily transport you to a happy place, fun place or romantic place, whatever the feeling, artwork plays a huge role in the design process.
For the colors in this design we had quite a few combination choices to complement the colors in the painting with the option of changing it up a bit later on, due to the neutral base of this design, but to start we choose the color palette below.
Color placement is key from the colors you use as the base and foundation to the colors you choose to build upon to the all important pop of color.
For this, navy and white was our color foundation of choice. Achieving the right balance of this color was important, navy blue is a rich dark color and if not applied correctly can make a room look very dark, this room and its wall of windows helped balance that.
Decorative wall effects are on the rise, and Designers are getting very creative with achieving marvel molding designs using either flat decorative wall panels or flat trim and these can be easily affixed by a reputable contractor to get the desired effect, we went with the conservative grid pattern.
For this Classic, modern sophisticated bedroom we wanted to create a space that was warm, comfortable and luxurious with furnishings that had an elegant and refined appearance. The gray tufted bed frame and low profile recessed armchairs exude both comfort and style.
Adding a generous seating bench by the window area, gives a beautiful space to sit, gaze and reflect out in to a beautiful garden area.
The right lighting can really transform your space and make it feel like a home and achieve a practical or aesthetic effect. Consider the light sources you need in the space and build from there, from your overall general lighting, task lighting or decorative lighting and most importantly your accent lighting for when its time to turn the lights down low to relax and watch a movie!
Often times, it can be very hard to find ready-made decorative pillows that work well together especially with the other colors and elements in the room. Choices can be limited and we tend to stick with the solid colors and mix and match with other solid colors for that perfect display. COM’s or custom fabric pillows are a great alternative if you are having difficulty finding the exact fabric color combination. The internet has made it very easy to search for fabrics and several places online offer great libraries of fabrics and for small fee will send a swatch of the fabric so you can experience it up close and personal. The colors in this design, that were inspired by Isabelle’s painting were so vibrant, we really wanted to find some close to perfect colors and patterns that would complement rather than under perform. These fabric choices from Haute House Fabric do not disappoint!
